This past Summer was no different. Event Pros LA coordinated several weddings with dogs included, our favorite by far was that of Lei & Brian’s wedding at Saddlerock Ranch with their adorable dog Peanut. See above images. (photography by John Solano).

• When planning your wedding to include your beloved pet, first things first – Let the church, hotel or venue that you are using for your ceremony know that you would like to include your pet in your ceremony. Some venues have a strict no-pooch policy. Before selecting a venue, verify that you can include your pet.

• Practice makes perfect! If you feel your dog does not have the correct “isle manners”,  consider enrolling your pet into obedience classes to learn the basic commands for sit, stay, and heel. This will benefit you beyond the wedding, but it will also teach your precious pup good manners when it comes to walking down the aisle.

• Assign a handler to your dog for the day of the wedding. This person should be in charge of not only escorting them down the aisle, but also making sure they have been walked before hand, and are provided with water afterwards. This should be someone that your dog is familiar with and comfortable with. Make sure you have a plan for what to do with your dog after the ceremony. Remember, you will likely be moving on to family photos and the reception and your pet(s) will need a safe and comfy place to go, as well.

• If you’re planning to make your dog the honorary ring bearer, do not allow them to carry the actual rings (most brides I’ve encountered have sewn a small ring pillow to the collar on larger dogs or attached a lightweight pouch for smaller dogs). This is akin to trusting a small child to hold the most precious (not to mention expensive) tangible expression of your union, and the last thing you want is for them to get lost, chewed up, or swallowed.

As I look back through my blogs, Facebook images and posts, there are so many memories that make me smile, so many moments that will forever be captured and never forgotten. Family, friends, happy  and funny moments, people whom allowed me into their lives and share  their happiest moments with me . They will always be with me. So moving on to 2013 is a bit difficult  for me. I am really not good with goodbyes and letting go. 2012   has been there for me through many dreams, goals and achievements. She was a true friend when I really needed her, so thank you 2012.

RUSTIC WEDDINGS

Birch and Other Tree Bark will continue to take center stage in centerpieces. Rustic weddings have been trendy for a few years now and nature will continue to influence decor in 2013. Birch is a popular pick because it works year round for both summer and winter weddings.

3 ounces hot cocoa, homemade preferred of course, cooled
1 ounce dark Creme de Cacao
1 ounce bailey’s irish cream
3/4 ounce vanilla vodka
3 -4 miniature marshmallows

Directions:

1) Combine the chocolate, dark creme de cacao, Bailey’s and vanilla vodka in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

2) Drop 3 to 4 miniature marshmallows in the glass and roast with a creme brulee torch if you have one!
